Experience the XPERIA X1 Panel Interface

It has been a while since we last heard anything about Sony Ericsson’s flagship phone. I thought I might want to share with you more about one of its features based on what I have gathered so far–the XPERIA panels.

The XPERIA panels feature is one of the most heavily advertised features of the phone. Most of the guys who were able to see the phone first hand during the expos got the chance to experience the panels feature of the X1. They all agree it is definitely one of the selling points of the X1.

So what exactly is the buzz about the panels feature? The reps at the booths said that the panels are similar to the multiple virtual desktops like Apple’s Spaces, Workspace in Ubuntu, or the VirtuaWin for Windows. It could also be just shortcuts of your favorite applications if that’s how you look at it.

It is believed that there are around 100 panels to choose from of which only nine are shown on the display.

• Sony Ericsson panel
• Microsoft Today panel
• Slideshow panel
• Media Experience panel
• 3D Fish panel
• FM radio panel

You can also have your own custom panel. You can have your emails in one panel, Internet browser, text messaging, or music on the other panels. The possibilities are endless. The phone carrier can also include their pre-selected panels of which you can also customize. It’s kind of like having multiple instances of the user interface. With the X1 powered by Windows Mobile, you’ll expect to see a very fluid animation especially when they transition from vertical to horizontal mode which is exactly what the demos are showing.

Based on the demo we’ve seen, so far it looks like it’s quite easy to flick the panels around the touch screen with your finger or a stylus. You can either arrange the panels in a grid or a fan as a window switcher. You can arrange them in anyway you want.

Xperia™ X1 third update at the official site. Now X1 has new image at the screen. Sony Ericsson also add ‘Xperia Panel’ key and ‘Xperia’ logo under the screen. And here surprise! Second colour of X1 - X1 Steel Silver.

 Sony Ericsson's 8.1 megapixel C905 breaks free

No surprises here but at least Sony Ericsson's C905 Cyber-shot is now official. As a camera, we're talking Xenon flash, face detection, image stabilization and 8.1 megapixels crammed into a tiny sensor of unspecified make or dimensions. As a phone we're looking at quad-band GSM (9-hours talk / 380 hours standby) and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900/2100 on the C905a worldphone variant. It also comes packing an auto-rotating, 2.4-inch scratch-resistant QVGA display, aGPS with Google Maps, A2DP stereo Bluetooth, TV-out, 2GB of included Memory Stick Micro (M2), and WiFi with DLNA support when this slider is loosed upon the globe in Q4.
